Pilgrimage in Medieval England

Discover what motivated people to undertake a pilgrimage, where they went, what they took with them and the souvenirs they brought back.  Presented in costume with a wide range of artefacts which can be handled and accompanied with a short performance on English bagpipes

Tudor Fairs and Festivities

Explore how people celebrated high days and holy days in the sixteenth century, from dancing in the churchyard to public executions, and Bartholomew Fair to Yuletide. Including traditional tales, a mummers’ play and some live music on period instruments.


Myths and Legends of Cheshire

A look at the tales and folklore of the county, from dragons and mermaids to wizards and fools. The legends will be told in the traditional manner, then explored to see if there is a grain of truth behind them

Cheshire’s Minstrels

Discover the medieval musical heritage of the county. Find out how musicians stormed a Welsh castle, learn where you can spot carvings of musicians and hear medieval tunes played live on a range of fascinating instruments
