Chester Mystery Plays
Summer 2008 sees the performances of the plays on the Cathedral Green. Dating back to Medieval times, the Mysteries were revived in 1951 and are now played out once every 5 years.


Chester Cathedral
Now the City’s Cathedral, this fascinating building has been a Saxon Minster and later a Benedictine Monastery, with the shrine of St Werburgh. Lots to see, including wonderful 14th century woodcarvings in the Quire and the most complete complex of medieval monastic buildings in Britain.


Norton Priory

Extensive ruins of Augustinian Priory and museum with medieval tiles, stone work, ceramics and more. Surviving medieval undercroft and amazing giant statue of St Christopher from the 14th century.
