Summer 2008 sees the performances of the plays on the Cathedral
Green. Dating back to Medieval times, the Mysteries were revived
in 1951 and are now played out once every 5 years. |

Now the City’s Cathedral, this fascinating building has been
a Saxon Minster and later a Benedictine Monastery, with the shrine
of St Werburgh. Lots to see, including wonderful 14th century woodcarvings
in the Quire and the most complete complex of medieval monastic
buildings in Britain. |
Extensive ruins of Augustinian Priory and museum with medieval tiles, stone work, ceramics and more. Surviving medieval undercroft and amazing giant statue of St Christopher from the 14th century. |
Richard and Elizabeth York use music, drama and dance to bring history to life in schools, museums and heritage sites. It is always a fun and fascinating experience to watch their performances, and even join in. |
